For years, cafes were Victoria’s happy places where she read, knit and met new people, including one of her closest friends. In August 2020, in the midst of social distancing for covid-19, Victoria founded the Tea Brigade with the goal of meeting new people and connecting tea lovers across the world.
By day, Victoria is a content writer for a coffee importer where she geeks out about all things coffee. In those rare moments when she’s not writing, thinking about or drinking tea or coffee, Victoria enjoys knitting, writing letters to her penpals, reading and getting inky using her fountain pens.
Founder & Organizer
Smote has been a tea enthusiast all of their life and has always loved the way tea brings people together, fostering discussion, community, and exploration! Smote joined the Tea Brigade in September 2020.
Smote works as a librarian during the day and spends their afternoons assisting non-profits, making art, and drinking an inordinate amount of tea. They currently have over 250 teas, organized into a spreadsheet for easy tracking.
Tea Fairy Extraordinaire
Kara remembers sitting in the dentist’s chair at the tender age of 10 talking about tea stains on her teeth. A couple decades have refined her palate (and provided solutions to the dreaded stains) and forever cemented her status as a tea snob. Kara joined the Tea Brigade in September 2020.
Kara pays her bills as a healthcare Community Relations Manager, but is really a closeted introvert. When she’s not working, she’s probably curled up on the couch with a good book, a crochet project, or just enjoying the silence.
If it’s nice outside she’ll be spending time kayaking or camping! Her personal philosophy is “If it doesn’t have a flamingo it’s probably not worth it.”
